I have fruit flies in my kitchen, my bathroom, my livingroom - not just areas where there is food, but everywhere.
Any suggestions on how to get rid of them quickly? I have family coming over this weekend, and it's really quite gross.

You might have something called fungus gnats, which look a lot like fruitflies and do hang around fresh fruit and other moist locations. Put all fresh fruit in the refrigerator (they lay their eggs in it..eww!), thoroughly clean your garbage disposal (they like to hang out there, too), and check around for places that are moist, such as your houseplants. You might have to let the soil dry out a little so they won't go back there. In the bathroom, check your drains, clean them thoroughly as well. Besides that, keep up with doing the dishes, change your garbage bags often, and then kill them as you see them. It's worked for me, but I don't know if it'll resolve your problem by this weekend.

They breed and adapt to insecticides notably at as quickly as so which you would be able to desire to land up purely chasing your tail so which you would be able to desire to communicate. i be attentive to you stated the home is clean, yet double examine some issues. they like something candy no longer purely fruit. So be sure each and every thing is wiped down, no choc. syrup or the different sugary substance out or spilled everywhere. floor mopped trash emptied. rubbish disposal clean. inspite of each and every thing that attempt this. disguise the kitchen drain with plastic wrap so it extremely isn't any longer an selection for them and seize them someplace else. Take a extensive glass and positioned some apple cider vinegar interior the backside then make a funnel out of paper to place interior the glass be sure there's a small hollow on the backside of the cone(funnel) and then tape around the impressive so it makes a seal The flies would be rather fascinated in the vinegar and no longer able to get out simply by cone. they only are not that sensible i think yet this works. sturdy success they are such pains.

Take a pop bottle with the lid off, put alittle liquid like vinegar, or juice or beer in the bottom. Give it a couple hours on your counter and you should see alot go in but not out. (Also they're attracted to light, so try putting a light on by the bottle, like the stove light or such) I'm not sure you can get rid of all of them, but clean up everything as suggested previously. Their life cycle is 2 weeks. Good Luck.

This is a cheap and easy fix that really works, put 2oz of cider vinegar in glasses with two drops of liquid dish washing soap and set them around, wait a day or so and look thru the bottom of the glass, you won't believe how many dead fruit flies you will see in the bottom of the glass, I do this and change the mixture every three days or so, don't know why it works but it does.

Drosphelia! Get rid of any exposed food. Fruit flies love sugar. So completely clean out your pantry and refrigerator. Open the house and swat the flies you find. If you keep things clean, the population will diminish fast.

These little suckers "love" to breed in the soil of house plants. If you have plants, treat them with a plant spray. Pay allot of attention to the soil. They multiply very fast. If you don't have any food out, that may be the problem. I had them in my office and they drove me crazy till i eradicated them. It took about a week.

put some water and fruit scrapes (an apple core or pieces of orange) in a cup and cover the top with plastic wrap. poke a few tiny holes in it. when they fly in to get the food they will get trapped and drown or die. it really does work!
