To each their own. Maybe if more people minded their own business the world would be a better place.

This is a very touchy subject, but here is my 2-cents. There should be legal abortions, but with restrictions. At no point should this be used as a form of birth control, there are to many options out there to help prevent pregnancy. In the instance of rape or incest, then yes, it should definitely be an option for women. A woman who has gone through something like that doesn't need the additional stress and trauma of a baby she doesn't want. The worst part in these situations, if the person who did the crime finds out about the baby, he can still request rights to the child (sick I know), and no woman deserves to revisit that type of horror over and over again. If the mothers life is in danger, then it should be available. I realize it is switching one life for another, but those are the choices we must make every now and then. There are other situations also, but some of those are very personal and I don't want the backlash of my opinion. Before having an abortion I also believe that every other avenue has to be thoroughly considered: adoption or keeping the baby. There are many families that would love the option to take care of the baby, they should have that chance. If a woman does choose to go this route, then I feel they should be required to take precautionary measure to avoid it in the future, either through education or birth control. In a perfect world this wouldn't even be around, unfortunately it's not.

Women have always had abortions and will continue to have abortions from way back in history. Abortion used to be the second knowledge of midwivery.

During the time of Napoleon, the French being French and Roman Catholic at that, I read about orphanages receiving in excess of 1,000 children a month. It was only sweet at the annual Orphanage Choir concert after that.

It's the woman's choice, not the government's.

It is a womans choice...It is the womans body who has to carry the baby. There are many reasons why women have an abortion, some being the baby is deformed, maybe the woman is too old or young, maybe the woman is in a bad relationship and having the baby would cause too many problems. Its different for everyone. I get quite angry with the Right to Lifers...Its all very well for them to have these moral values, but to force a woman to have a baby just because that is what they believe in is wrong if a woman has been raped for instance. They have no right to judge a woman if they choose to abort...Like I said it is the womans choice.

I'm pro choice. Not because I believe abortion is a good thing, or even necessarily the right thing. I just believe it should be a person's choice. And that bible thumping misogynist males should have no say in the issue.

Personally, I can't imagine a situation where I would ever get an abortion. I've had 2 kids and can't imagine doing that, ever. But I can not speak for anyone else or tell them what to do or feel.

This may be a cop out, but pro-life for myself, pro-choice for everyone else.

Good question, I think it is sad that peope think a life is just so disposable. I actually read an comment in the letter section of my local newspaper where a man actually didn't believe that a baby wasn't 'alive' until it had breathed its first breathe of air. I found that saddening to think that people feel this way. While I understand there are circumstances that make birth a problem for people and hey if they want to abort the baby go for it. I just think that they need to realize they are killing a life. That being the case I would like to see more efforts to legalize post birth abortions. Using the same logic that gives people the freedom to terminate life now, I don't understand why that can't be extended. What if a family gets tired of caring for a member of the family with special needs? Terminate them. Maybe your elderly parents have become a financial drain on the family. Terminate Them.
Your teenager tells you they want to 'play for the other team' and that doesn't work for you. Terminate them. I could go on.

Wow, looking at the answers here, it makes me wonder just how easy it is to stir the pot on a religious/political hotbed issue like this. Does anyone really think they're changing any minds with this?

Pro-Choicer: I'm for a woman's right to choose...
Pro-Lifer: Well then you're a BABY MURDERER, you... baby murderer!

I mean, it's not like there's going to be any calm debate or exchange of ideas here.

I don't think about abortions. I think it's none of my business if you get one, and it's none of anyone else's business if I get one, regardless of the reason. And it certainly isn't the government's place to tell me what I can and can't do with my body.

I think it is murder and the helpless innocent little victims are only here because of someones poor judgment and shouldn't have to pay for it,i think that life is breathe into us at moment of conception and that it truly is a life and not just blob,as they would have us believe, more people should use a condom or birth control every time and then there would be no need for the abortion clinic and for all the rape victims as unfortunate as that is,and traumatizing,I'm sorry but this is how i feel.
