I find it rewarding to have a relationship, whether it is friendly or with my wife....then again my relationship with my wife is based on friendship and love. I think that a relationship in not a necessary thing yet why would you want to go through life not having any type of relationships....Another thing don't you already have a relationship with your family?
Remember this it is through human interaction that we develop ourselves and become who we are today.

i guess you are talking about partner relationships ,which are not necessary, but definately can be either fun or painful. relations with others ,such as friends ,coworkers , and family are of a different sort and i would say are necessary ,if you do not want to live life as a hermit.

You don't have to have a relationship - I have always been single - and I have no regrets. I am still waiting on the right person to come along. I have always said to myself - it is better to be single than get married to the wrong person and regret it for the rest of your life.
So if am single for eternity I don't care, at least for the most part I will be happy.
