I see what you mean and agree with you completly here. These other religious groups come here and expect us to conform to their religious beliefs---they say our Christian ways are offensive to them and expect us to hide from them anything that might offend them. I feel that we should all tolerate each other with respect. However, when it comes to being expected to totally give up our religious holidays just to please them, things are going to far---if they don't want to celebrate for example Christmas, thats fine---all they have to do is look the other way---and those of us who don't believe as they do will do the same when their religious celebrations come up.
But, then you can't begin to expect much tolerence or compassion from a people who seem to think its ok to kill anyone who disagrees with them----yet they would rather starve than to kill a cow to eat because they say its holy. Where is the logic in considering that an animal is more holy in God's eyes than a person is?
While I obviously don't agree that the cow is holy, I respect their rights to that belief even though I can't understand it myself. So too, should they respect our beliefs or else return to their country if they can't do that. No one has asked them to come into this country---and if they can't at least respect the beliefs of the people within it--then they don't need to be here

Well, in part, it's just you. You asked if the world has "gone" mad, which implies that it was at one time sane, which has never been the case. There's always been some person or group who sensed it was their moment in time to step up and impose their will on the rest of the world. That's what's going on now. There's no real difference between the nazis, the commies, or these radical muslims. All think they have the right way to run, and rule, the world. That's why it's so important that people understand what is at stake here. It worries me when an idiot like Rosie can go on TV and make a ridiculous statement like Christianity is just as dangerous as radical islam, and people in the audience actually applaud. That blimp might change her opinion when she's forced to wear a veil over her face (actually, that might not be a bad idea). The truth is, women should fear Islam more than anyone, since that culture considers them nothing more than baby machines with no individual rights whatsoever. As for the pope, he should retract his apology and demand an apology from them for threatening his life. But the sliver lining in this whole thing might be that it reminds everybody just what we are war against.

I agree with the letter.
I do however think the pope was a bit of an *** for quoting the text though. Especially as a few hundred years ago the worst perpetrators of violence to spread their religion where the christians and the crusades
The situation is inflamed enough already without him adding to it. However that still does not justify the behavior of the people we have seen on the TV and in the papers burning effigies etc.
Mind you I wonder how many muslims actually didn 't pay any attention to it and just got on with their lives. The media do like to give the impresssion that it's all muslims when really it is only some of them.

I totally agree. The sad thing is that the death of the nun is just the tip of the problem. In Indonesia over the last few years there has been a policy of genocide against Christians, in fact more Christians have been murdered than were killed in the Tsunami that hit the Indonesian Islands. Only the day before the wave hit a church and all its congregation had been killed in a bomb attack. Yet when aid was so badly needed the first people in there were the small Christian Aid groups who have done a wonderful job helping the people. Now Indonesians are beginning to question the killings and the more militant and murderous amongst them.

Yes, I think the world has gone mad. I cannot for the life of me see why everyone cannot just get on with living. Part of me can't understand why the Pope said what he did, because the whole world knows how sensitive Islamic/ Christian relations are at the moment. Part of me also agrees with what has been said above, that the cause of Muslims who want to live in peace alongside Christians has not been helped.
I think this is going to cause some sort of mass war anyway. I am pretty certain there are more suicide bombers in the world, than people prepared to lay down their life for the Pope. And I think if the Pope is murdered then the Catholics might well rise up and try to retaliate, which is going to have awful consequences for people caught up in the middle.

Yes the world has gone mad, although I did feel that the Pope should perhaps have thought a little more about what he selected to read, especially with everything happening, and have made an educated decision not to use it, as it may cause an uproar, as do most utterings these day, perhaps everyone should just not say anything for fear of insulting the next person huh! Life is definitely a ***** now, and we're bloody living it!

It is crazy these people act so violently for a religion they say is based on peace.
I see the hypocracy and irony at their violence - angry at cartoons yet burning puppets.
The sad thing about this recent episode is that the pope did not criticise Islam or muslims, but was quoting an argument between a 14th century emporer and a muslim cleric in the hope of dialogue with the muslim people.
the result being, rioting, violence, murder, arson, so it seems the 14th century emperor was right, Islam is violent and irrational and its fruits are evil.
Apologise! Apologise they say, don't they realise the 14th century Emperor died 600 years ago?
Irrational
Peace?

Muslims have their own view of violence.
For a so-called 'peaceful religion' it seems they cannot even agree with one another, judging by all the murders taking place in Iraq and other muslim countries.
Look at Pakistan and India, both muslim countries, who would like to see each other wiped out!
Their response to the remarks of the Pope were simply just another excuse for them to rant and rail against Christianity.
I stand corrected. India is not a muslim country, it is Hindu. SORRY!!!!

"the international"? as interior the literal earth? No, no longer infrequently i'm a Celtic Reconstructionist Pagan. As such, i do no longer enroll in the Christian version of hell or of heaven for that depend. human beings in many situations use that description whilst they do no longer purely like the path the subculture seems to be going. it extremely is authentic that we are in all probability going to be in for some tough situations economically and doubtless even bypass by some tough situations ecologically interior the subsequent technology or so. even though it extremely isn't any longer be the tip of the earth. despite if i assumed interior the Abrahamic God, i do no longer believe He could as narrowminded as his followers and could condemn all people who do no longer stick to a minimum of one among his religions (Judaism, Christianity or Islam) to a place of eternal punishment. If hell does certainly exist, than it makes extra sense for it to easily exist for people who believe in it. There ARE different gods and different Afterlives that are purely as valid as those defined interior the Abrahamic religions. So Yahweh/Allah will, i'm specific, recognize his fellow Deities and be aggravating purely with the afterlife of his very own followers.

Yes the world has gone mad, and the tabloids are only making it worse. If we didn't hear so much or know so much about what was going on in the world, we wouldn't have all these problems in the first place. I blame those ****holes in the media for creating situations and probably (sooner than later) creating the basis for another World War.
