Distinctive cuisine of Indiana includes the pork tenderloin sandwich, consisting of a lean, tenderloin-cut pork chop which is pounded flat, breaded, and deep fried before being served on a seeded hamburger bun with ketchup, mustard, mayo, and a dill pickle slice. It is interesting to note that the main ingredient of this dish bears a striking similarity to schnitzel and as such, may be related to the large population of German immigrants that originally populated central Indiana..

Also the fried-brain sandwich is generally a sandwich with sliced calves' brains on sliced bread. Thinly sliced fried slabs on white toast became a ubiquitous menu item in Evansville, Indiana. it is not uncommon to find them on some restaurant menus in Indianapolis and they are a major seller at the annual Fall Festival in Evansville.

Mmmm, delicious.

They have a ribfest that is said to be good. Also have all the regular steak houses such as Texas Roadhouse.
There are many kinds of food, but I don't know if Indy is "known" for a certain one.
