Power I'm not sure about, but I know how I figure out the mileage on my car.

When I fill up my tank with gas, I check to see how many miles I've driven since the last fill up. So if it takes 10 gallons to fill up my car, and I've driven 280 miles since my last tank of gas, I take the miles and divide by the quantity of gas needed to fill up my tank. 280/10 = 28 miles per gallon.

This really only works if you fill up the tank each time.

Hope this helps.
