More important than size is speed. Most coaches will tell you that speed is what matters most to them. Very few positions in football rely solely on the size of the player. If your current coach has you at wide-out that is a good indication that you have decent speed. You may consider learning the skills needed to play a defensive back such as a safety. Many defenses are using smaller, more aggressive safeties.
Most of your work should be done in the off season. There are several camps that focus on improving speed and those that focus on specific positions. More important than anything though is to get in the weight room as much as possible. If you have small frame you can't expect to put on much weight but you should focus on strength training.

What do you mean by small?

Height doesn't matter so much anymore! If you are short but able to get some weight behind you and build up some muscle then you can become a running back or a tight end. Running back is probably your best choice aslong as you get some muscle built up!

Either that or become a cornerback for the Eagles! All our cornerbacks are less than 5 foot 10 anyway!!

If you're really small relative to other kids your age, you may want to stick with WR. There's less traffic out there. As a TE, you'd be asked to block quite a bit and would have to catch passes short and over the middle, like right behind the defensive line, where it might be harder for the QB to see you. (Doesn't mean you're a midget, just that we're talking about half-seconds that the QB might have here.)

You could consider tailback, where yes you might be asked to run between the tackles, but you'll also get to bounce it outside. (You'd have to be pretty fast, though.)

Bottom line: Check with your coach.

If you're really small maybe think of being a QB because then you don't really get hit as badly unless you suck and get sacked allot. If you can't do that you should be a BW (BENCH WARMER)

If you're short but stout, try fullback. If you're short and thin, try the defensive backfield, corner or safety.
