It's funny you ask this question. I have 3 children. The oldest is 7. I had a difficult time this year buying school supplies and shoes because my daughter checked all the labels and was determined that she would wear nothing from China. She had to settle for a few items and I hated that she had to. I was very proud of her a few weeks ago when we went to McDonald's. She ordered a Big Kids Meal and received a toy in her sack. She was very excited about the toy. Couldn't wait to play with it! After we were finished eating I let her open the package around it. She got a disturbed look on her face and said she'd be right back. I watched her as she approached the counter. (I still did not know what she was doing.) Then she came back to the table with a smile and no toy. I asked what happened to her toy and she replied, "I gave it back and told the lady that I didn't want a toy that another kid made but couldn't play with." If a 7 year old can figure that out then what is wrong with the rest of Americans? Needless to say... I am VERY proud of my daughter! God bless!

Yes, Americans do tend to treat every thing as a commodity but most wise ones know that you still cannot buy happiness... drugs yes, Happiness no.
No, China stamps down on religion, freedom and the US trade deficit. The people of China tend to be a fairly happy bunch, they do know how to party big time... and it doesn't take money or an all American Weeny roast.
Even in the middle of the most blasted, rubble strewn city you will find happiness... the Human spirit is a wondrous thing, you can break the body and still there is thought , you can take away liberty and yet the mind is still free.... As long as there are humans living you will find happiness, not necessarily all the time and not necessarily a whole lot of it... But then, you didn't add a quantifiable measure of the Happiness of which you wrote.
Hope this helps

No. Happiness is not a product. America may be the richest country in the world. But economic figures do not equal happiness. A study has been carried out about the level of happiness in different countries and it turns out that Sweden is the country where people are most happy. Probable reasons include: trust in others (it's also the country in which people most trust each other), and a more egalitarian society.
Cheers!

I would not classify it as 'happiness' but more as 'disaster'. Part of the problem is many Americans are too stupid to realize all the products they buy at trailer trash stores such as Wal-Mart are produced in China. These products are cheap because they are low-quality. Why support China when we could support our own country more. I am not saying don't trade with China, but we buy way to much 'crap' from them.

You got it backwards new guy, Americans sell happiness, the Chinese are the ones that are going to be buying it. Better brush up on your Mandarin because those boys are going to be the next major superpower. Think Wang-Marts for millions of communist oppressed millions. Yeah- sobering thought to think that our country is in decline (instead of the Visigoths coming over the seventh hill, it will be Mao's rowdy bunch of capitalists wearing iPods. Pax Americanus)
Personally, we might want to think about living in Australia.

It is for me...I prefer to see the Chinese stay busy by making things rather than by lobbing nukes into my yard. "Idle hands make mushroom clouds..."
