Take a look at what you are actually getting angry about, the chances are that it's something ridiculous. There are few things that you should get mad enough to the point where it is detrimental. Some things are worth getting angry about, so if that time arises, control it by turning into something productive - like speaking your mind, or writing about it.

A good question I think, but not an easy one to answer. Alot of people say counting to ten will help. I personally had serious anger problems when I was younger, I simply came to the realization that not only was I hurting the people I fought, but I was also hurting those close to me, and in doing so, hurting myself. At that point I made the conscious decision to think my actions through, control my anger, and never again to raise a hand against someone who didn't attack me first. I don't believe this will work for everyone, but it worked for me. When you get mad, breath deep and think it through, most of the time the things that anger us aren't even worth being angry about, and even if they are the results you get from talking calmly are always better than the results you get from punching people.

Immediately start slow deep breathing & start repeating a mantra or counting 1 to 100 ,and move away from that place.

Now you may practise Pratipaksha bhavana - inculcating opposite feelings to overcome negative emotions.

In case of anger you may remember your loved ones or moments of peace & harmony you experienced in life or else just visualise youself beside a calm & serene lake.

You may also practise Yoga Nidra.(consciously putting to rest each little part of your body so that your body does become a victim of your own mind.)

Anger is the most negative emotion of our mind as it is self-destructive too.It not only harms the external but internal too.
If you knew the greater harm it was causing to your own body due to secretion & circulation of toxins ,increasing your heart rate rapid breathing etc.you'd never ever get angry at least for the sake of your own health !

1) Try Lavender

2) Find out what is causing this, sometimes we have a problem ( or several problems ) that can't be solved for the moment, then, we get angry to other people apparently "just because", bot behind that, is that problem, but most of the times, we are not aware of this situation.

3) Take a couple of seconds just before open your mouth.

4) Make some exercise.

One should realize what anger is. Anger is really fear and frustration. One should question why he/she is angry. One should also consider what is significant enough to cause such fear and frustration. Could it be that one is not getting their way? Could it be that they cannot accept that nobody cares about their priorities or their agenda? Could it be that they just can;t accept that life is not fair, and the world does not orbit them? Excessive anger indicates higher levels of narcissism in an individual.

Anger is a form of energy.
Energy can be destructive or constructive. When I get angry one way I deal with it is to do physical activity (whether it's chopping wood for winter or performing some form of building something) Energy unused builds until it bursts through. When this occurs it usually hurts those closest to you despite the fact that they may not be the source.

Please use the energy and not let it get beyond your control.

Therapy? Or maybe see a doc and have your blood pressure checked. Many people don't know that high blood pressure causes extreme irritablility and short tempers! Really......go see a doc about it....no shame in that. I know lots of people that are on meds for anger/mood management. And don't forget the blood pressure thing. Your problem might be physical. Good luck

Take himself for therapy. Anger is there as a result of something in his life, so he needs to work it out with a professional who understands human emotions.
