I have a guy from England coming to see me next week. He's flying into Newark Airport and we need a place to stay (our previous hotel got double booked). Where is place that's not too far away but with stuff to do and kind of romantic? NYC isn't really an option. Any suggestions?

Here's a good website with lists of B&Bs in New Jersey:

I reccommend Morris County and Northern Bergen County.

You should be able to find a place in Fort Lee, NJ or Paramus, NJ or Hackensack, NJ. Should be on the cheaper side and in a MUCH better area than Newark. Out of the Newark AP you can get on the NJ Tpk and take a nice scenic drive up the Palisades Pkwy that runs parallel to the Hudson River. You can easily get to Liberty State Park in Jersey City where you can get a ferry to the Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. You'll get a great view of Manhattan and not actually have to go there. Need more help, just email me.

If you have a car available, you could try places along the New Jersey short. Ocean Grove has tons of Bed & Breakfasts - very romantic and a nice place to stay.
You can probably get on a train and get to Point Pleasant or Manasquan, but check New Jersey Transit schedules (you will probably have to get over to Penn Station - Newark to get the train).
