You start with market "research".

You need to find out:
a) how to build your brand/product "awareness"
b) how to get customers to actively 'consider" your product/service
c) how to get customers "won-over" to make the purchase decision.

For every product or service, there are millions of ways to increase awareness (advertising in any medium), and there are millions of ways to get them to actively consider your product (rebate, competitive positioning, etc)

Persuation is a poor choice. You want customers to come to you (a pull model) where they love your product, not to have to "push" the product at them by strong-arm persuasion.

By the way, you really want to create some sort of a "buzz" about your product such that people flock to you!

Have a product that meets a need. Identify those that have that need. Explain how their lives are currently affected by the lack of fulfillment - that is, until your product comes and makes it all better.

Market research, focus groups, targeted demographics.

If you have the time, and enough money to pay tuition - take a marketing class at a nearby university or community college.

Just let them know the advantages they get from buying it.

For us, it must be obvious, bot for most people is not that obvious, so letting them know will be a good start.

You may be surprised how easy it comes after they know all the advantages.

good luck.
