I live in a port city and watch them load and unload cargo sometimes. There are cargo holders that clamp down to a flat bed truck or train, it's the things you see stacked up on alot of cargo ships.
If you talking about shipping a train I'd think they'd do it in pieces then assemble them at their destination.
