Its not so much as a knowing english as well as reading english. The US, regardless of what the senators say or anyone else for that matter is an English speaking country. Just as if I were to go to a foreign country I would be expected to know and understand the language of that country. Unless you want to be a ditch digger (and by no means am I degrading ditch diggers) but even doing that job you still need to know the language. What if they gave you the address of where you need to go to dig the ditch. If you don't understand English, how the heck you going to find the location? I honestly feel that anyone and I mean anyone that comes to the US to work (unless here on a work visa specifically for a particular reason) should know the English language, in fact, I think it should be a requirement and you should have to pass a very rigid test on English before you are ever granted a work visa for this country. And the worst part is immigrants that come to this country with children and they don't even bother teaching them the language. How do they expect their children to flourish in an English speaking country if they can't speak the language. Its plain old fashion common sense in my book.

If you're planning to work in the USA, you will need to speak English unless you want a job laying sod or picking vegetables. Personally, if you don't speak English, I don't want you here at all.
