It means you are going to be a grandparent at 30. Congrats grandma!!!
No seriously... It's fine. She is just going through puberty. It's a little young but it's perfectly normal. The kids nowadays are going through this at an earlier age than our generation. I know of a girl that was 18 and had a 6yr old son. She had him when she was 12, so she was having sex at 11. She had started her period at 10. So it is by no means any cause of concern. She is a normal child.
On that note.... It would be a good idea for you to go to the DR. with her and consider your options. The Pill is a good thing. It is a wonderful preventative measure. And I hope you are mature enough to understand the big picture here. It is a good idea for her to be on the pill for lots of reasons. It is not giving her permission to have sex... It is a parents job to inform there kids about that before they are able to have sex in the first place. Kids are going to have sex.. That is just a fact of life. If you chose to stick your head in the sand and ignore it.. Well then you will be surprised. The old saying... An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. is especially true in this matter. It is truly better to be safe than sorry.
Most of all you need to be there for your daughter. She is probably scared shitless right now. And very confused about what is going on with her body. She needs you to be there as a guiding parent. To assure her that she is OK and it is natural.
I am sure all is going to be fine. I hope this helps... Good luck.

I started puberty when I was 9 (4th grade) and got my period when I was 11 years old (6th grade). It doesn't mean anything. The child has just developed earlier than most kids, that's all.
And also, girls are going through puberty earlier now than they were 20 years ago. It used to be that 14 was the average age, now it's around 12. All of my friends got there's when they were in the 7th grade, which was when they were 12 / 13 years old.

It just means she has begun puberty. It is normal for girls to have their first period anywhere between 11-14 nowadays. With better nutrition, girls tend to have their first period at an earlier age than 2 or 3 generations ago.

I am not sure if this will make you feel better or not.... but my niece whom just turned 11 has her period too. So do many of her Friends. I believe it's normal and just a part of her body development. I am 31, I started my period just after I turned 12. I am sure it's fine and your daughter is completely normal, she's just growing up is all.
Good luck!

It just means she is an early bloomer. It may be time to make her an appointment with the gynecologist, she will need to have yearly exams now. You should call and talk to one to make sure. Different girls bloom at different times it is nothing out of the ordinary for her to get it at age 11.
