cause i'm not brave enough to go up and talk to him. so i think maybe it'd be easier if i got him to start talkin to me instead of vice versa. so what should i do to get him to start talking to me?

It depends on too many factors. If you see him in a gay bar, just go for it. I realize it takes some will power and nerve, however, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain if he returns your conversation and shows some interest.
However, if it is at work or school it is a whole new ball of wax. You still have to start the dialogue if you are really interested. Start by asking about some part of his job (or what course he is taking at school). You'd be surprised how easy it is for him to talk about something he is familiar with and will probably appreciate your interest.
Of course you can always try the old standard ploy. You 'accidentally' brush up against him and drop something. You apologize and start to pick up what you dropped. If he gets down to help you and makes eye contact - you've got it made. Don't laugh, it works! (Or, at least it did for me.)
Good luck!

I've had the same problem. But the advice I give may not help, since you're not a brave person. I was not a brave person either that first time.
What you could try is just walk up to him and try idle chat. talk about the weather, talk about something that you think might interest him. If you don't know what interests him, try to scope him out (don't stalk him) and see what he might like and be interested in. If you can't do this, walk past him and drop something, and use some excuse how you can't pick it up (lame I know, but it does the trick) and ask him to pick it up! The possibilities are endless! Just don't be shy. You gotta be brave and you gotta be assertive! Good luck.

Start working on the brave thing....your going to lose out on a lot if you don't. Just prep yourself for some disappointment, it's going to happen on occasion.

You can't *make* him talk to you. What you should do is walk up and say "Hi" What harm will that do? From there you can see what his interests are and try to relate to him. Does he have pets? Siblings? What does he do for fun? Just make small talk, it could lead to where you want it to go.

Unless you're sure he's bent, stay well away from him.

Otherwise, you'll thoroughly deserve a busted nose for being so sleazy.

And if he is bent, why the drama? Just go do what needs to be done.

Or don't.

The worst that can happen is that he'll totally humiliate you in front of everyone, ruin your life, leave you emotionally scarred forever and damage your confidence beyond all repair.

But that will be good because what don't kill you makes you stronger, right?
