I agree with you it is time to start closing our borders to every tom ,dick and harry who wants to come here !!! If you want to come live in this country then please by all means come here ,but become a us citizen and pay taxes and learn what it means to be a us citizen .I am so tired of paying my fair share of taxes when we have hundreds of ppl living here that dont yet they live off of our system. Shout and spew hate at us. They go to college on a schlorship sponsered by us funds and then they say how much they hate america !!! Give me a break . you dont like us then go home and see what you have there.

I think you're generalising a bit. Most muslims families have been in the UK for a long time, settled and their children were born in the UK, thus are British citizens.

Most muslim families feel awful about the events that are taking place worldwide, want nothing to do with it except hope and pray that extremists will soon be caught and taken out of circulation!

I lived in Belfast in the times known as 'The troubles' and what was happening there and in England led to a strong mistrust and hatred of the Irish in general. yet of all! Most people like myself had no time for either side, just wanted the boys with guns and bombs to leave us be! Have a normal life just like other people did! If i told anyone i lived where i did then they automatically assumed me to support what they regarded as 'my side' when in fact! I didn't! Never did because all i wanted was for both sides to sit down, talk and finally allow us to lead a peaceful life! You know accept and respect the fact that!!! indeed there were drastic differences of opinion but see further than the end of their nose? And stop the killing! That was Ireland then (Northern Ireland) and now it's changed, at last! At long last. I was always opposed to vioplence, just wanted the right to bring up my children and get on with everyday life without the bombings/shootings and you name it. I know for a fact that many muslim families feel the exactly as i did then about current events!

first of all, i would like to echo what Suraya said about including the word extremist in your question. political correctness and cultural sensitivity is pivotal in presenting your question in a non-derogatory manner.

deedonutdid, i have to disagree with your statement,
"why can't we go to your home country and start to threaten and shout hate at YOU!"
obviously the post 911 invasion of afghanistan shows that so many more innocent lives can be lost through this sort of attitude. this doesn't mean that i support osama bin laden in any way. what i'm trying to say is that the only way to stop terrorism in the US (without sacrificing more innocent lives) is through non-violent means.

anyway, to answer your question, i think voting has a big part in this american issue. the USA contributes to the world in so many ways, yet at the same time, george w. bush is the nation's achille's heel (at least with regard to global peace and political sensitivity). i'm not very well versed in US politics, but i think bush is doing a lousy job (fighting terrorism) in a democratic nation with his republican values.

you also mentioned something about conformity. i think this is irrelevant. i'm sure the US government and bush administration never had any intention of allowing muslim terrorists to live in the US. believe it or not, terrorists living in the US do conform in the eyes of the INS (or at least give that impression).

you're not the only one fed up deedonutdid, so am i. violence in the USA (and the rest of world) due to inter-religious conflict disgusts me. it even angers me at times. but i have to keep my cool because i know that the best way to stop all of this is to make a positive impact as a global citizen.

I have to say that I am pleased you made the point of saying "extremist muslims." So many others would simply put Muslims. The truth is that we don't know which ones are the extremists until they do something... extreme! Sure there are always rumors, but you must know how wrong those can be.
Can't say I agree with everything you put, but you're not wrong in your opinion.

Even if they were born here it doesn't give them the right to threaten anyone, being a traitor is not a good thing.

if they don't like it here and the way we live here they should leave on the next train/boat/plane to go to an islamic state where they will be happier.

Living in the middle of the country (BFE).... I know there are many Christians who I would assume as "dangerous" as "extremist muslims"....! They're just ticking time bombs.

Really, dangerous extremism doesn't just belong to one or two groups.... or "them". Extremism doesn't seem to discriminate on race or religion...

... just be careful when you go pointing your finger at people because that means there are 3 pointing back at you :)

I think you are over reacting to the media and getting caught up in a kind of herd syndrome. Before judging check out all the facts and also remember that a democracy that starts behaving as you suggest is no longer a democracy. Do you mean conform to our way of life our your beliefs?

I am not sure which country you refer to, but I am in the UK and what you wrote applies very much to this country and I agree with it. Those born here have the same rights as anyone born here, but many of them want to blow fellow citizens up. They forfeit their rights, in my opinion, and indeed should be tried for treason and hanged.

Everything you have said is what many believe in. I hate the fact our country is becoming over run with these animals. More people are standing up to them now but unless we all stand up and fight we will soon become a muslim country. Thanks for posting :)

with regards to "why cant we go to your home country and start to threaten you" You may be pleased to know that our government already has gone better than just threats and has killed many thousands of innocent Iraqi's, and Afghani's and destroyed their infrastructure and raped there oil. We also stood by whilst Israel used extremely disproportionate force against lebanon. Just the tip of the iceberg.
