The USA would win anything violence related i'm sure. The UK would win anything related with intelligence. C'mon, everyone knows most Americans aren't the brightest crayons in the box ;-)

it seems i'm the lone american here *cowers hoping not to get beat*.... so i'm going to venture forth and put in my two cents...what kind of tournament are talking about here? IQ/trivial? personally, i think that would be a close one; not all Americans are as retarded as you make them out to be (granted..a good majority ARE...). Sport? Football (soccer), meh....depends...UK is better than our men's team...but if this truly is a generation tournament.. then the generation of the US women's team with mia hamm, julie foudy, etc.. would whip some butt. As far as the other not so great sports are concerned ( IMHO)...I think it would be the US. Drinking? Hands down, the UK...unless you get some Southern redneck guy...then there will be a good contest. Style/Fashion Trends? the UK, no contest. But, the outcome is to be seen....
VERY GOOD idea though, I think that would be awesome to have a US vs. UK tournament...would be entertaining...
EDITED TO ADD: and to the above, why the rudeness about Americans? why must everyone assume that we are fat and stupid, i mean honestly. i'm sure i could come up with some nasty things about the UK...but i choose to take the high road.
btw: i'm not fat, lazy, stupid, or without humor...i just get tired of the constant America bashing...not ALL of us are the freaks you see and hear about on the news...

US would be harder to get into, but their resistance movement would be pathetic. And if we're talking about eliminating each other then it would be a draw, we have enough nukes to pretty much wipe the US off the map. The only problem is they can do the same to us (oh wait, they'd probably miss and hit France or something).
Of course it's a moot point, we'll never have to take them on alone, by the time they start trying to take over other powers the whole world will have turned on them. Which is a shame, it was an ok country 100 or so years ago.

If It was a generation type game the UK would win hands down. We have more brain power and the obese yanks would need to rolled all over the place and they wouldn't be able to sit behind the conveyor belt.

Bruce Forsyth would rip the P*sh out of the Americans. They wouldnt know what hit them, it's not like they have the best sense of humour. (Yes that's how we in the UK spell Humour, before I'm reprimanded by those without humour).

The USA would win because they currently have all of the UK Troops doing their bidding in Iraq and Afganistan and the general public would rather be a part of the USA than the EU anyway.
on the other hand...
The UK would win because the Americans don't know where the UK is so would probably bomb Greenland by mistake. On top of this with the American's love of friendly fire for once they wouldn't actually be shooting at us.
