Because the democrats want us to need them, they love government funding so that the american citizens become addicts and have to constantly go to their drug lords(democrats) When the people who use the funds think of it as free money, when its actually out of everyone except the politicians pocket...hey , I have a great idea , lets have the government funding come directly from the politicians salaries then we will see they suddenly have a change of heart, do they care about anybody but themselves , no......
I love these answers, people love to talk out of there *** and blame this president, when all the parties voted for the war, its not a dictatorship when the president has to go through the government for approval......there were as many demo as there was repub voting for this war....so the blood as they put it is on everyones hands and the US military (god bless them all) are not the ones killing the civilians , its there own extremist pig eaters (oh thats right a no pork diet, Maybe thats why they are such an angry group add some pork to there diet)

I think you are misinterpreting our concerns. I assume that you are talking about the Geneva convention? We, like our opponents, want to do what it Right. I don't need to make the argument FOR torture because you obviously get that. But here are some of the reasons I am against it:

1. Honor. We have signed the Geneva accord, pledging to act within it's guidelines. Failure to do so makes our country dishonest.

2. Reciprocity. In thins conflict, it goes without saying that our captured soldiers are at risk of cruelty, but any changes we make now will also affect future conflicts where that may not be a foregone conclusion.

3. Morality. Just because they are assholes doesn't mean we have to be. If we want to continue to be an example of a country with a good human rights record, we cannot torture people, no matter how evil they are.

4. Ambiguity. If we allow torture, where do we draw the line? Okay, we physically torture someone. They don't give up the information. So can we torture his wife? Can we rape his child until he gives us the information? Can we torture his neighbor to find out where he is? His neighbors child? Where does it end? There is no limit to the evil human beings can perpetrate on each other if there are no limits.

5. Dependability. I want intelligence that is true, not some BS coughed up just to make the pain stop. Read about the Inquisition: torture does not yeild good information.

I have always been proud to be an American, but this discussion has me feeling ashamed. Our soldiers used to be people that the oppressed looked to as their protectors. Think of WWII. Recently that view has changed and I don't think it is the soldiers who have changed, but the leaders.

Blessings!

Your question is the logical fallacy "false dilemma," but anyway...because when the rights of mass murderers are trampled on, it creates an atmosphere where the rights of the law abiding citizen may soon be trampled on.

Democrats want to be loved by everyone. They want to show mass murderers that they care about them.
It's a Democrat "kissy-face-huggy-bear" thing.

Let's see. By last count GWB managed to kill nearly 3000 American service people and 40,000 innocent civilians.
He's still got lots of Republican support.

We choose CIVIL rights over a dictatorship.
