If you are in the UK, you may not do this. You will be unable to sell the car because you do not have title to it. If the owner has not paid the bill, then you will need to pursue them by other means to regain the money. But without a court's approval you may not simply sell the car. the previous answerer is not correct about advising the DVLA of an abandoned car on private land - to do that does not then entitle you to ownership. Be very careful here, or you may end up being charged with theft.

An attorney would be your best option. However laws differ from state to state. In most cases you can put a mechanics lien on it and sell it after 30 to 90 days. In some cases you have to wait a year or more.

if you are in UK, I believe there is a process you have to go through, informing the DVLA about an abandoned vehicle on private property and then its like 3 months or something i think

you actually have to go down to your local city hall and file some paperwork to do so..If there is a lien against it ,you'll have more work to do,because the vehicle belongs to them..
