Tell them that you ring-fence companies who sell over the telephone, because if thay have to resort to that sort of pressure, the product couldn't be much good anyway. A good product sele itself. When did you last see an advertisement for Rolls Royce.

Just tell them that the collection agency from the last telephone purchase is in your home and could yuou call back later?
One of my sons says "Why don't you call my dad back when he comes back home from jail?"
(I help a few people in the county correctional institute with their GED a couple times a month.)

Oh i like to do a variety of things if you say Hello then say ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ELSE they get really panicky and it's really funny! I have also yodelled really loudly, barked like a dog, said could they call back as my GF is tied to the bed. Shouted "What? What? WHAT? I can't hear you!" I also say " Sorry I'm not allowed to talk to stranger's"....just play, it's lots of fun. Though I get surprisingly few calls now!!

You shouldn't be nasty to them. Tell them politely that you are not interested. Keep in mind that these are just people trying to make a living. Some of them earn only for what they sell. So, they may be annoying at times, but they are keeping themselves off the streets. One less person on the street means one less hijacker, robber, criminal!

YOU DON'T NEED TO MAKE EXCUSES...DO AS I DO - ASK THEM TO HOLD ON A MINUTE AND GO BACK TO THE PHONE ABOUT 5 MINUTES LATER AND THEY ARE GONE!!
WORKS EVERY TIME AS THEY GET FED UP HOLDING ON :)
(My friend bought one of those fluffy kids toys which plays a tune - just keep playing it into the receiver and the caller will soon disappear)

keep a whistle near the phone ... you know the one with a ball in it the referies use in a footy match etc ....... when you find out its a telemarketer take the phone away from your ear and blast the whistle as hard as you can into the mouthpiece ... the sound comes out thier end highly amplified , and usually they are wearing a headset , i can guarantee he wont be able to remove the headset b4 you burst his eardrum , he wont be bugging you ever again !!

person of many years experience!! or if they ask for you by name just say they died yesterday and sob slightly!! they get off the line fast !
