Ignore the people who say you can't have 2 equal signs - they're wrong. For example:
If A = B, and B = C, you can write it as A = B = C. To be correct, you must show that A = B, B = C, and A = C
So, for your question:-5x - 3 = -4x = 8/(3+1).
To solve for X, pick one part of the equality, and solve against another part. The simplest, in this case, is to take:
-4x = 8/(3+1)
-4x = 2
x = 2/-4
x = -1/2
Then, you check against another part of the equality:
-4x = -5x - 3
-4x + 4x = -5x + 4x - 3
0 = -x - 3
x = -3
Finally, check the remaining part of the equality.
-5x - 3 = 8/(3+1)
-5x - 3 + 3 = 2 + 3
-5x = 5
x = 5/-5 = -1
Since all 3 parts of the equality do not match, there is no solution for x that meets the criteria, and the answer is "No solution".

This is a wrong question
as there can not be two = = signs in one equations
and if u take three equations seperately
there are three diff sollutions
1. -5x - 3 = -4x
x = -3
2. -5x - 3 = 8/4
x = -1
3. -4x = 8/4
x = -1/2

split them apart and make two equations -5x-3=-4x and -4x = 8/4
add 5x and get -3=x and then the other one -4x = 2 devide by -4
x= -1/2.... yes something is wrong with the original but i tried anyway! let us know what the teacher said.
