Prefer to lose a leg than an arm.
Dashing across the road to push a baby in a pram out of the way of an oncoming truck, as the mother tripped over and sent the pram into the road. I just manage to push pram out of the way, and the truck clips my left leg, nastily!
OOOOOHHHH the pain, i look up, "Is the baby ok?" i manage to utter before blacking out due to loss of blood.

I'd choose to lose a leg rather than an arm. Simply because the hands are too important to lose them, we use them for so much. It's easier to get by without a leg and there is also a bigger chance that I could get a fake leg that would be good enough and able to do most things a real leg would do, while it's impossible (so far at least) to replace a hand with one that can do most things a real hand could do.

How to lose it... I guess I'd prefer losing it in a way that was completely out of my control, so that I wouldn't spend the rest of my life regretting not being careful enough or regretting doing whatever I was doing that resulted in me losing the limb.

I would rather lose a leg, because arms are more handy (no pun intended). I could get a prosthetic leg which would do the job just as well (pobably better under some circumstances) and keep both arms for doing stuff that I like doing with them.

I would prefer to lose my leg painlessly, but I doubt this would be possible. At a stretch, to a tiger because they are beautiful animals and their sharp teeth would do the job quickly. Also I like the idea of being food, not just going to waste.

I would prefer to lose my leg, for the same reason most people are putting. Easier to function with a missing leg and in a wheelchair, than with one arm missing. How? Falling down a flight of stairs in a company building and shattering the bones into lots of little pieces. That way I can sue and gets LOTS of money! Cuz ya know, losing a leg must be expensive.

I think loosing a leg would be easier, because everyone can see your fake hand and your legs are covered up. Plus how would I type with only one arm? I haven't really thought about the best way to loose a limb... though if I were really really hungry in the middle of the sea my thigh would make a tasty treat...

Leg, because I am very sedentary anyway and this would give me an excuse...besides if you cut my hands off it would be hard to be on the Net....
Is there a preferred way to lose a limb? Preferably in my sleep so it wouldn't hurt.

I'd prefer to lose a leg, cos at least you can get a 'bionic' leg or hobble around on crutches.....although personally, I think I'd get wheels! I need my arms far more. I do so much more with them.

I'd have to lose my leg in some fantastic act of bravery that I could then smugly recount every time someone asked me what happened! :-D

A leg.
I need both my arms to care for my baby.
A false leg only needs to carry out the function of walking and standing.
A false arm cannot do all the things a real one can.

An arm, as I would still be able to walk.
I would prefer to have it chopped off by a combine harvester, pick it up with the other hand, take it to the hospital to have it sewn back on.

A leg. My left leg to be specific. There are plenty ways to still be mobile. An arm is so much more versatile to me.

How about surgically removed, painless.
