Without a doubt, her best performance was in The Rose, and she was robbed of the Oscar by Sally Field in her mediocre performance in Norma Rae, a film that is all but forgotton by now, yet The Rose still rocks! Any doubters? Spend about 5 minutes watching her perform "When A Man Loves A Woman" and if you do not get chills down your spine and get blown away at the intensity of that one perforrmance, then I must use a quote from that same movie: "F*ck you, F*ck him, F*ck them all!" Am I a fan? HMMMMMMMM.....................Yeah, Beaches was cool as well, and quite frankly, she stole the movie "What Women Want" in her small cameo as Mel Gibson's shrink. Her Emmy winning moment on the Final Tonight Show when she sang Quarter To Three to Johnny Carson will forever be emblazoned in my mind as well, and For The Boys was quite a Film as well, though most hated it. I blame that *sshole James Caan for that one. She is an Entertainer like no one else, she can do it all. The best thing to do when it comes to Bette Midler however is to go see one of her live performances. She is the only person who can have you rolling in the aisle in absolute hysterics, and in the blink of an eye, have you bawling hysterically in tears. That is an ARTIST!

My favorite movie of hers, probably Beaches, though it makes me sob like a baby every time i watch it. I first saw it when i was 4 i think (I'm a young Bette fan) and my mother had a tons of her Cd's while i was growing up. So I'm familiar with her music (Miss Otis Regrets - probably my favorite song). And I've also sung "the rose" for a choral concert back in junior high. Nothing beats a red head who can use the phrase "over the shoulder boulder holder" and get away with it

It's a tie between Beaches and Hocus Pocus, since one makes me cry and the other makes me laugh my head off.
