You will need to talk to a broker, or check newspaper ads in the area of interest, but my guess (and it is only a guess) is that you will probably spend around $4,000 an acre.

I live in SouthEastern Virginia and you can't find anything here. At least not without a couple million. No exaggeratting either. I work in the Real Estate business. I would look somewhere south but more toward the middle or west. Check out the Real Estate Websites and the For Sale by Owner websites. Roanoke would probably be a good place. Good luck hunting!

Do your homework on taxes - farming exemption, homestead exemption? business zoning laws, etc...

And you need to really do careful research on the types of grapes that work well in your specific area of Virginia. Be very careful also in case you are buying land previously diseased, that could cost you far more than just the purchase price.

Get involved with the vineyard growers assoc and make a positive impact. They're not just competitors, they're also colleagues...
