I was led to believe that you had to be living on the streets or in a homeless shelter to be able to sell the big issue, is this correct?

How much money do these people earn? there is a man in my town who lives in Manchester and travels the 25 miles by bus (£5 return from my town) to sell the big issue magazine, I can't afford to go to Manchester by bus once a week never mind up to 6 times a week...

So can someone explain to me how this can be?

I didn't mean to offend anyone I just wanted to know how a homeless person could afford to spend £30 on bus fares a week!

What is your problem with this 'issue' Sorry but if this person is not homeless then they should not be allowed to profit from selling the magazine and why not do a search and find the Big Issue home site?

I don't know -not much though I expect. I'm sure a lot of them could get a better job (but let's not open that can of worms, shall we? It's almost as contentious as the "Fat" debate on this site!).

I think they make double what they buy it for. So if it sells for £2 a copy, they bought the mag for a quid
