me being Irish/German your metaphor is new to me and very, very apt.
Sadly most people still don't agree. They think having got a majority of votes somehow elevates a person onto a higher level...
Or sometimes even just having got into office whichever way...
So I'm a pessimist.

Change to what? Democrats are open borders, amnesty, welfare, welfare, welfare and so on. Disastrous at this time.
The Bush administration is open borders, amnesty etc. etc. etc. Republicans are secure borders except for far too many of the elected types. Disastrous but not as disastrous as Democrats.
Awful things are upon us with no solutions.

No longer can one be a Democrat or a Republican and subscribe to the so-called right or left. Rats and sellouts have taken the majority.

We, the people let it happen. The overriding principle that paralyzed people is dogma. Full allegiance to a party or a person because of dogmatic thinking got us to the precipice. And it is going to push us over.
