It depends upon the cosmetic! Generally its written on the cosmetic only if you notice.If itching or something unusual occurs that means its expired.Expired cosmetics make our skin rouhh!

mascara expires every 6-8 months,lipsticks last up to 2 years maximum if stored in a cool dry place,foundaion lasts upto a year and powder eye make up can last upto 5 -6 years ,creme and liquid eye shadow lats max 1 year

I replace my mascara every 3 months. Pencils should be fine. Liquid makeup probably the same as mascara. No makeup really has an expiration date, but it is chemicals and they do go bad. I've had eye shadow irritate my eyes.

I wouldn't keep anything longer than 2 months. Air and skin contact allows bacteria to get in fairly quickly and changes not only the "benefits" of it but also the smell.

Anything that goes near your eyes should be replace within 6 months, other make-up can last a year.

Mascara, face powder, and foundation every 2-3 months...eyeshadow can be 6 months...and never can have enough lip gloss!
