...frogs/toads are jumping out all over the place, quite large ones too! (fist sized). I don't want to run over the poor things, after all they eat spiders. Is there an easy way I can get them out of the way without hurting them?

A much worse problem will begin to happen as your yard has become a breeding ground for frogs and or toads it will also draw in snakes. The grass is long so mowing will have to be slow to keep from bogging down the mower the frogs will get out of the way as you mow.

I'm calling GreenPeace, sounds like you are considering destroying a natural habitat for wild frogs and toads. Just kidding
I'm off to go hug a tree...

Have you tried walking around a lot right before you mow and see if you can encourage them to move .... maybe mow really slow, give them time to hop out of the way. Don't use mothballs they are toxic!!

They should get out of the way if the sun comes out, they usually hang out in the damn undergrowth, under leaves and bushes etc.
You could just pick them up (or chase them off).

they eat slugs. Put on some gloves or get a fish net and catch them and put them somewhere else where they can hide safely

I would wait a while till they gone ....

Not sure you can unless you actually get a bucket and pick them up one by one. Not as if you can reason with them lol.

Try moth balls. But be careful, it only takes a few every few feet around the parameter of the yard. Use gloves.
