I do not know if this is the proper place for this question but here we go.
I have a yellowjacket nest which is underground that I need to get rid of. I can not use fire as the city codes prevent it. if anyone can give me some suggestions I would be thankful.

you can wait until the first frost and dig up the nest and if you can't wait you can use a fire extinguisher and fog the openings to keep them from coming after you then plug off one hole as they always make two and run a garden hose down the other and flood them out.

Put a brick beside the hole one day. Then get some Sevin dust (carbaryl) or Eight dust by Bonide. Put about 1/8th cup of dust in an old clean catsup bottle and you're now ready for action.

As the days get cooler the yellow jackets become more aggressive so wear protective clothing.

On a cool evening put a flashlight or lantern so it's shining on the hole about 90 degrees from you approach route. Then with filled bottle in hand slowly walk up to the hole and put the top of the bottle down to the hole (you can even gently touch the ground) and squeeze. If you do miss any they will go to the light because they are photosensitive.

Once you've blown the dust into the hole pick up the brick and set it over the hole so they are stuck down there over night with the dust. Walk away slowly. Yellow jackets eyes are very poor at forming images but they are very good at detecting motion. Don't make any quick moves. By morning they'll all be dead.
