If you are in the UK you can register with the Telephone Preference Society. They will contact all marketing companies and you will be removed from their lists. If you then get any calls (unlikely) you just tell them you are registered with TPS and them calling you is illegal.

It takes about a month for the nuisance phone calls to stop, but believe me it works. If you are not in the UK they may have a similar scheme where you live.

Find yourself a piece of cellophane off of some package wrapping. Keep it near your phone.

When they call start to answer the questions and then wiggle the cellophane next to the mouthpiece.

Do not say anything about the noise.

Wait until they say something about it and then acknowledge it.

Keep it up making it as loud as you can.

I’ve actually had people ask if they can hang up and call back. I let them.

I start again with the noise but just a bit further down the line.

One called back twice and gave up the third time.

Also, you can buy a zapper. This works as well as it hangs up on computer made calls just after you pick up.

Haha thats a good one.

I find it's just polite to say after they introduce themselves "Look, I don't really think I'd be interested in anything you're selling, so lets not waste my time and yours. Goodnight." I used to be a telemarketer, and thats probably the nicest way of being put down. Most of the time they won't try to keep you on the phone. It's when you immediately reject them rudely that they start pestering you. It's hard to pester someone when they've been nice.

I put the phone up to the frying pan where I'm cooking a nice juicy hamburger. I can hear them saying, "hello?" "hello?" and when I do, I just push down on the hamburger a little more. Sizzle! Sizzle!

LOL

Let your 4 year old answer the phone. Works like a charm for me. He starts asking them questions.

Tell them to take you off of their phone list. Ask the telemarketer for their name and mark down the time that they called. If they call again ask for their supervisor and make a complaint.
