I say yes most definately by the simple fact that you can let cats out on their own!

Also where to rabbits and guinea pigs come in the intelligence stakes?

If you believe that dogs are more intelligent then why do some behave so erratically when they are off the lead? Cats always appear calm and in control of themselves!

Dogs are smarter than cats and much more trainable. We define intelligence in many different ways so there will never be an agreement on any questions concerning the topic of intelligence, including human intelligence. However since we define intelligence in animals by how trainable they are and how well they understand us; dogs are more intelligent than cats.
I have two of each and I say cats can do some amazing things at times.

I am sorry that you think that, you must not have done to much research though, I have yet to see a cat on the police force or a cat that knows how to roll over or sit up or play dead or fetch for that matter, anyways, I'd say dogs are much more intelligent, I would have no idea where cats and guinea pigs come in to play

Cats are definately more intelligent than dogs, and have more of a personality - picking when they will come to you for a cuddle or maybe they will totally ignore you. I love the fact that they are their own little person. Rather than a dog who pretty much does what he is told, no matter the situation.

Are cats more intelligent than dogs ? If so, their superior intelligence do not benefit mankind. I think dogs are way superior to cats because they can be trained to snift out drugs. There are seeing-eye dogs and dogs who can find people under tons of debris. They will protect their love ones. They are mans best friend. No cat can do any of that.
Rabbits and guinea pigs are not too smart.

I was always told that in tests, cats are more intelligent than dogs (the only other mammal with a prostate) and pigs were more intelligent that both of them! I think rabbits are pretty dim, guinea pigs probably smarter that rabbits but rats - now your talking! Very, very clever - the only other mammal to see in colour. Crows are dead clever too, smarter than some Secondary School teachers in fact. Learning tricks or being useful to humans through training is no sign of intelligence, it's just fortunate.

depends on the breed of dog and breed of cat, boder collies are the most intelligent second german shepherds 3 poodles the only intelligent cat is the siamense cat, dogs generally are more intelligent probably because they have been bred to be intelligent whereas the siamense cat is naturally intelligent, dogs are more loyal easier to train therefore can learn to do more so are more genitically prone to becoming intelligent as cats really cannot be trained they cannot learn as quickly as a dog so dogs are the most intelligent, guinea pigs rabbits have very little intelligence at all.

If cats could open tins they would kill all the people and just help themselves. They are lazy parasites. Dogs are far more intelligent and useful. Dogs worked out thousands of years ago that if they co-operated with hunters they'd have a better success rate. Cats just manipulate soft hearted people and then **** on them. Generally speaking, the smaller the brain the lower the intelligence.

Dogs are so much more intelligent . I mean, how many tricks can cats do? besides dogs are so much more loving so overall they may be the best pets. Also, If you want a smart pet, easy to take care of, small, less trouble choose a ......rat. of course if you are one of the few people that can get over the naked tail.

Most not all animals are trainable the more calm submissive types are usually more willing, hence seem more trainable.
i have a cat that is a keen retriever of paper balls but i wouldn't say she were any smarter than my dogs, just more independent and less keen to spend time learning anything. could elaborate but it seems that like us it would then take singular case studies to explain each animals capabilities. Anyway thats' my small donation, bye.
