I need it for my MBA marketing project which wants me to understand the culture of the country in order to market a product.. for me the product is cosmetic jewellry.. information regarding the product would also be appreciated....

Thank you for your concern...

The jewellery market is very fragmented. There is one major chain, H Samuel, and there are expensive specialist outlets. Otherwise a lot of costume jewellery is sold in small shops and by market traders.

Brits are much less internet-savvy or internet-aware than Americans.

But we do use catalogues quite a lot, the ones that come through the post or are distributed with the Radio Times, and the catalogue store Argos. particulalry women, and jewellery is a mostly woman-decided woman-to-wear purchase. When men buy jewellery for their girlfriends and wives I think you'll find they've usually first had her choose what she likes to wear.

The things families buy a lot together are items like cars and furniture, things for the garden, and everything in Ikea. And of course holidays and leisure, remember most working Brits have 4-5 weeks' paid holiday [vacation] a year plus 8 public holidays so this mkt is important.

Fashion.... you cannot get away from it, every few months the clothes shops change everything, even household goods like TV sets and lampshades and the colour of cars are changed by fashion. Some of us do not like it but we have to lump it.

New ideas in general take longer to catch on than in the States. We are much less technical-minded, too, you would not sell a psychology book to Brits on the slogan that it is "scientific", and gadgets do not sell as fast just because they are latest technology gizmos. But of course the young (14-30) market is much more the ipod generation.

Don't forget the alrge Indian ethnic market. Indian women buy much more jewellery per head, i think, than other Brits, but they have their own cultural tastes.

If it grew to become right into a fictional television tutor then it would be to do with the characters and the tale in that distinctive episode maximum possibly. If it grew to become right into a documentary then it could have been approximately ingesting issues or something? human beings do no longer try this throughout actual existence interior the united kingdom to this point as i understand. My relatives lives there and that i've got cousins growing to be up and who grew up in that way of existence and it on no account passed off to them or around them.

Brit culture can be summarised by everything being sorted out by having a cuppa! Tea is the cure for all ailements that inflict the brits. Food pref - prob good old fish n chips (certainly down souffff). Northern culture is completely different - watch coronation street for northern culture and eastenders for southern!!!!
