For me personally, i would rather be sodimized with tom cruise and eat a boat than watch either of those movies, but if they told me i was going to be in the same room with george bush and osama bin ladin and a mud wrestling ring if i didnt choose, i'd pick the beach.

Neither is an especailly good movie, though I suppose they're OK to kill a couple of hours. "The Mexican" suffers from the fact that two superstars (Julia Roberts and Brad Pitt) share very little screen time, which makes it hard to care about their relationship. Early in the film Pitt's character heads off to locate the almost mythical "Mexican," which is a gun rather than a person, and they don't get back together in time to save a pretty routine movie that should have been a lot better.
As for "The Beach," it too boasts a big-draw actor, Leonardo D., but the storyline seems farfetched and contrived. A compensating factor is some lovely scenery (the setting is Thailand), along with a few sequences that will appeal to action fans and maybe to those who follow "Lost" religiously -- the beach of the title is on an island supposedly nearly impossible to reach. But that doesn't seem to have impeded a gang of criminals from using it as a haven... (No, I haven't given away the plot, because you can see all this in the trailer.)
I guess, if I had to, I'd choose "The Beach" to watch a second time, but don't take that as a positive rating.

How about a trifecta: the Mexican, in a tree, on the beach.
