Certain things play on my mind forever, currently it's an argument with an insurance company, who say that in 6 months I _may_ get some of my premium back, as I shouldn't have to lose my no claims discount when they're not actually paying anything out. It's part of a long story, but it's really getting me down and is becoming an obsession. I'm about to have a baby and really want to just forget about the car insurance altogether, but the extra £300 they've bunged on my renewal is all I can think about. How do you let things go, I realise there are more important things in life, but I just can't give it up. This is just an example, I seem to be like this with most things! Any advice on letting persistent gripes go would be gratefully received.

hunni I would be pi$$ed too!! u could try seeing if u can fight it,try the website moneysavingexpert.com for sound advice..other than that say to yourself if I sit here from now till next week thinking of all the times I've been wronged what will it change? not a thing, put your energy into learning from past mishaps & promising yourself it wont happen again.on the plus side when u have ur baby u wont have time to worry bout things like that, there are times when its hard to let go but sometimes we have to just let things wash over us for the sake of our sanity..good luck hun & big hugs.

i'm just like that i always ponder over the big and small stuff, i should know better because i'm a psychologist but i am human as well. write whats on your mind and you can either throw them away or decide which needs your attention and priority and what things you can change and which things are out of your control and cannot change. i think you should not give in to the insurance companies in this case, they are like that, but think of it ina constructive way-meaning rather than worry about it think about what you can do to change the situation and win. when the baby arrives you will be far too busy to worry about things as the baby will keep you on your toes and you will be filled with joy anyway because of your baby. do some breathing exercises and go and work out to clear your mind and your serotonin levels will increase with exercise that's a feel good hormone. If you don't believe in God to pray then meditate it will help. Goodluck!

Ok...well as ever in life most things come down to your own will power or the control over your own mind and by that i mean our ability to judge situations,people,feelings,etc..and to KNOW you make your own life...All this being said, everyones different and where as one person may be able to resolve something with just their own thought and analysis, others may need 'outside' input..i will say that its a good thing that your persistent as this means when you feel strongly about something you will fight till the end to get the result you want...the only thing to be careful of is if it becomes a detriment to yourself and causes you to feel negative all the time..you seem like a strong person so dont let it plague you with worry just do what you can and let fate take its course because everything falls into place in the end anyway.

All the best!

Try reading that book, don't sweat the small stuff.

I also find sitting outside and looking at the sky can help realise how insignificant some things really are in the great scheme of things, if that doesn't sound to pretentious...

If people offend you and say sorry or not that you must learn to forgive but with insurance company trying to rip you off you must stand your ground. This is business,if you overlook it or give in it will come back to haunt you. Always argue with insurance companies until you are satisfied with what you are getting. You must do so when it comes to business.
Remember there are trivial things that you must learnt to let go but with insurance matters that will affect your future YOU MUST NOT!

Boy do I understand that one. It's the hardest thing in the world to just get on with life sometimes when you feel you've been wronged. I've finally come to realize that I make myself miserable by dwelling on these things if they are out of my control. I don't know if this will help or not but here is what I do. I manipulate my mind. When I just can't get something like this out of my head I talk to myself "silently of course if in public lest they think I'm mad!" Just tell yourself, HEY STUPID you've got to move of this, this is destructive, what can I do right now to get this out of my head and replace it with something constructive. Then dwell or do something that will make you feel good. I also begin each day with prayer asking God to take away these things from me and to bless this day with fruitfullness. It's hard to focus like this but it does work.

well, treat it as if you have never been thru this before and will never be in it again. just ignore the thoughts that play in your mind. it's killing you. talk to someone. well, it does helps. i know it is something to do with big money however, what's done is done. you will never get it back right ? well, you should not forget this entirely as this is part and parcel of life. this is something that u need to learn to accept.

I think once you have got your money like me then you can move on.

It is hard but try to keep yourself busy and concerntrate on your new baby's arrival, then the baby will keep your mind of everything. good luck xx

You probably need to be busier so that things are put into perspective. Also excercise and fresh air. Br around people and listen to them and have conversations with them rather than telling them about your issues.
