Your examples aren't really metaphors. A metaphor is a figure of speech by which a thing is spoken of as something it resembles such as 'He showed a ferocity suggestive of a tiger.' However I see where you're coming from so:-

1.) Day and night ,
my eyes roam the world

Obviously your eyes don't 'roam the world' but the suggestion here is that at all times, day or night, you are vigilant.

2.) We hated one another,
the afternoon turned black.

Again the afternoon doesn't 'turn black' but you are comparing a physical possibility, ie stormy weather, with the mood of hate that you felt for each other.

3.) My flashlight tugs me
through the dark.
it is a hound
with a yellow eye..
It points its nose
where sharp things
lie asleep -
And then it bounds
ahead of me
on home ground.

This is quite a mixture of descriptive prose.

The inference is that due to the darkness and the bright beam of the flashlight, you are compelled to follow it. You liken the beam to a 'nose' which, of course, you are always obliged to follow, and due to the nature of it you can direct it some distance in front of you and the wavering beam makes it look as if it is bounding over the ground.

Hope that helps.
