I hear what you say but learn nothing new. In a recent answer I went right off track when the government had said they had taken a poll and said the public were happy to pay another £50 or so for a TV licence.
Are they totally stupid its tantamount to walking up to some stranger and saying 'give me a tenner' and that person happily saying ok there you are. it happens with every thing they have done and do.
They under estimate the intelligence of the public , the only thing they have in their favour is that a large section of the electorate do not like change and are a bit like football fans when it comes to voting 'i'm a half wit party voter and always will be' like the their football team they will support them however badly they are playing.
The most worrying aspect of what you point out is just how much clandestine activities are carried out with one or more government departmental blessings. It begs the question though is Blair an extremly strong leader forging his sense of duty through, is he so stupid he does not realise the british public is being sold down the line and robbed left right and centre or is he wek and cow towing to every one in order get his own way?
