The four surviving species, native to New Guinea and Australia, all belong to the Tachyglossidae family under the class of mammalia. The echidna is named after a monster in ancient Greek mythology
Its is classified as follows:

echidna, as others have already said. I will add though that there is debate about its status as a mammal. Some evolutionary biologists think that it may belong to a seperate class of animal all together based on differences in its dentary squamosal joint, the telltale sign of "mammalness"

Echidna - the spiney anteater.
Knowing that 'dna' is the abreviation of deoxyribonucleic acid, I used the site below to find the word.

Echidna, although it is a monotreme i.e. it lays eggs, like a reptile or bird. it does not have nipples as such, milk oozes out of modified sweat glands. So it shows both both mammalian and reptilian features. Proof ( if proof were needed) that mammals descended from reptiles.
