It is a mathematical certainty that there is life on other planets. In fact, given the size of the Universe, we are surrounded by life. So, your very good question could be answered not by asking if there is life, but, what kind of life could it be? The possibilities are endless. :)

Well, there is life here . Why wouldnt there be other forms else where in the universe. There is life forms in a glass of water . Why not out there on another planet.

Given the requirements and rare circumstances for an Earth-like planet forming, it's likely that there is no complex life, that is no multi-cellular organisms, out there.

there are probably nearly endless places (planets) in th universe where conditions are similar to earth.
If life can occur with significant probability in such places than the number of places where something a little similar to life on earth is also nearly infinite.
the probability that such "life" would follow similar paths of evolution as on earth is certainly not marginal.
So all in all the probability that there are many places where life is similar to what we have on earth could be significant

We are carbon based on earth (we burn to ash). now imagine life elsewhere in the universe based on other elements; silicone for example (more like the material in your computer chips - similar properties). other factors affect life as we know it here. gravity for example( theirs could be half of ours or even 9 times ours) how does that affect their mobility, and anatomy. Light from the sun affects us so our eyes are sensitive to visible light. life elsewhere could exist near a star with characteristics different from our sun. they would be sensitive to xrays/ or gamma rays/ the possiblities are endeless

The questions is a mind opener, would love to see the others' take on this
