Do they realise that a lot of what they are told is propaganda aimed at making them docilely accept the terrible things their government is doing for financial gain? Or do they believe it all?

No more so than the British believe what the media and Blair tell them.
There will undoubtably be Americans who believe what they are told and those who don't. Whether what they are told is true or not is a different question. Personally I don't believe a lot of what I here from politicians on either side of the atlantic. I tend to think some sections of the media are more honest in Britian though, although IMO news papers like the Daily Mail and the Evening Standard are no better than FOX which opitomises biased broadcasting.
Also don't forget propoganda has been going on for years, long before the USA existed.

I, unfortunately, think in many cases, the american public are very easily lead up the garden path by the media when it comes to public information and/or propaganda by the said, Government. Yes, you can say the same for many other countries and/or ideologies However, it seems to be more prominant in the, States. The question is, would such information be accurate and true....I suspect in many cases it is not. In light of huge advancements in technology, all Governments have used this as a tool to promote and install their own ideals and principles to indoctrinate the masses. Since 9/11, this method has been more relevant.....but whether it contains truth is still the $64,000 question. Have you ever watched the movie ' V for Vendetta ' ? This highlights this point very good.

I don't believe anything anyone tells me unless I know them very well, or can verify it through another source. However, I would be remiss if I didn't point out that your financial gain statement gives the appearance that you are guilty of your own indictment. This is not an indictment of your position, merely an observation. We are all guilty of some ideology, and we tend to want to believe that which fits our own mindset, and discard that which doesn't as propaganda. If you want to take the position that most people are not as informed as they should be, I would say this is true, but it doesn't mean that they believe everything that is spoon fed to them by the government or media.

Your question shows lack of knowledge on the subject. First of all Bush is Republican and a conservative. The majority of what is referred to as main stream media is aligned against the Bush administration, i.e., pro-left. That includes television news media and the print media. All the major USA networks such as ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN could not be considered pro right. Fox news - maybe.
So your question makes no sense.
Therefore, you're the docile sheep being led around by the nose.

The same as I believe in the media of my country.
What about yours.
The media are less and less a public service.
They are supposed to be part of the public sphere of influence.
But they are less and less "public". They are "government", or "corporation", or "party", you mention it.
I believe that many (majority) of Americans realise, may be better then us, what lies they are being told.
Just a remark: the Web is one of the few/best "media" we can use to keep a free discussion.

No one is listening to Bush right now. I suspect that Bush and the Republican Party are in for a big surprise. It have been propaganda from day one with this administration. They've used it to justify their actions. This is why people refer to Bush as Hitler.

Who do you think got him in in the first place- Fox news announced Bush had won the election before all the votes were counted. In my opinion that suggests at least a little bit of bias.
