Its true. I've wondered for a while why we have so many americans answering questions here - I've even seen a couple of questions placed by americans too (specifically I recently saw a question about house prices and the chosen best answer was by a guy discussing the prices of houses in Washington?!).
I can only presume that they share the same system. But I do find it irritating when you naturally give an answer that is appropriate to the UK, only to find out that you've completely wasted half an hour replying to someone who wanted a US specific answer. Yahoo should specify the country of origin really to counter this.

What is helpful when people ask questions, is that they refer to their country of origin. Often times people ask questions and assume that people will know what they are talking about, and part of the time, those who do know, answer. I live in India, and you should see the comments that people who are not from India make when they try to answer questions that they don't know about...it's embarrassing (using foul language...and so on.)
I see your point, and to answer your question: People are asking and answering questions as if it were "their own...country." It makes things easier to specify "how much that house in NC cost..." Taking considerations for each others different backgrounds and cultures is helpful. If some of the Yahoo community members operated from a "we" position rather than an "us and them" we'd understand each other more clearly. If we operated with a "we" more often in our lives, then our world wouldn't have so much strife, now would it?

I think someone on here said the other day that Yahoo Answers for the UK, US, Canada, Australia and India are the same. So you ask a question and you get answers from people from all these countries.

I find nothing wrong with Americans (or anyone else) joining the UK and Ireland site. I welcome them for their input and interest. The problem is that it doesn't take long for them to behave like the house guest who puts his feet up on your coffee table. They become critical, mystified and annoyed when questions and answers speak of things of which Americans have no understanding. References to the Tories, the Underground and law will all produce tortured screams of mystification.
It isn't that Americans are inherently stupid - its that they are the most geographically and historically unaware people on the planet. They cannot grasp that their way isn't the only way and that the rest of the world does things differently. Indeed, it seems to irk them if it does. This is why they try to treat our little corner of the Net like Cuba, Panama and Grenada: with contempt and ignorance.

Most questions in the English language do appear in the USA forum, and most questioners prefer that in order to get a wide range of responses. Now there is a UK flag at the bottom of this page and you could just post there for primarily answers from that country. Also Answers is International and some questions in other languages often just appear in the host country. Finally you could post in your question what country you're from then answerer's could formulate their answers to specifications if needed.

Because here in the U.S. I can't tell where the questions come from unless someone says where they live. I assume they are here but I have no way of knowing. I just answer anyone that has a question on something I feel I know something about. I try to help others as much as I can no matter where they live or who they are.

Because some questions posted in the UK & Ireland section appear in the US section & vice versa. It's no ones fault but yahoos.

Agreed! I think you should be able to select if you want your questioned answered by your own country, or the whole world. Sometimes its good to get a wider range of views, but things like education are different in each country, and you can get answers that are not releevant to you!

In some cases it is good to get advise from people in other countries take America for instance medically they are more advanced than us they can advise on different medicines that have been used there for some time and we are only starting to get them now which I think is a good thing.
Too much knowledge is never enough.

Doesn't matter which Yahoo you post in, eventually they all end up on the main site. I use Yahoo Canada. You need to specify in your question what country you are referring to....I would suggest the majority of people on here are American.
