I was lucky coz we lived in the countryside...
We had one den (me, my sister and my next door neighbour) - it was next door's old animal shed. The roof had fallen in and created a mini-shelter in there. But with all the scare about asbestos roofing and cancer, we had to stop playing there though...
Me and my sister had our private den on our land. It was on the side of a ravine (me - now thinking how dangerous that was!), where a huge lump of rock had slid away, making a rounded out hollow, big enough for 2 or 3 people to sit in. It was an awesome den, and we used to take lunch down there and eat it in the shade of this hollow, and tell each other our secrets.
It got washed away one year by a huge storm (half of the side of the ravine disappeared with it)... But I was just about too old to be playing dens by that point anyway. We never made a new one.
Man I miss my childhood!

I would go into the forest and make a den out of the trees and whatever I could find. Something very natural. I had a mountain in my backyard which was my playground for my dog and I. We use to find all sort of places to hide or rest together and call home.

In the living room. My best friend and I would drag a couple of dining-room chairs with backs on them, drape sheets and covers off the beds over the chairs and the couch. We'd spend almost a whole day under that thing! Isn't it nice that such simple pleasures used to make us happy? Are those days over?

Is that like blanket forts with couch cushions and such? My brother and I were experts at that, we had a whole entire old couch to work with, pea green and everything! And then my dad made a cardboard house with a refrigerator box for us and ruined all the fun..... ;)
