The moves are mostly choreographed and done in such a way to minimize or eliminate the pain although some moves do hurt (the injuries are real). Creative writers make up the story lines, but occasionally they do incorporate things from real life into them. For example, there was truth to the Edge, Lita, and Matt Hardy story line they had going on Raw. Lita actually cheated on Matt with Edge.

Professional wrestling is staged. The matches are normally planned out in advance.
Also, much like magic wrestlers tend to use a lot of mis-direction. They stomp the mat when they punch, which makes you not notice the fact that its not full contact. For that matter, most moves cause little to no physical pain.
Does that make wrestling less entertaining? not really, the personalities are still larger than life, and what they do in the ring still requires a large amount of athletic ability. If you like wrestling, please continue to enjoy it.
You should check out Mick Foley's Book
Have A Nice Day: A Tale of Blood and Sweatsocks
for the full blow by blow on what it means to be a professional wrestler.

WWE means World Wrestling Entertainment. The name only refers that it is just to entertain the people. If it happens in real the police arrests them immediately.

No it is highly choreographed and planned. They are truly great athletes but it is more or less likened to circus acrobatics. For example, if you dropped your friend on his head don't you think he would be seriously injured? If you punched someone square in the face 10 times, don't you think he would be bleeding profusely. I love WWE, but it is entertainment and not real fighting. When I learned that pro wrestling was not real, when I was a child, it was like telling me Santa wasn't real!!! :-)

It's fake. Many years ago some state legislature was drafting legislation to regulate pro wrestling and Hulk Hogan wrote to say that it was all staged. So there we have it.
