i used to be a smoker ( some ppl called me steam engine :-( ) in coll but now i limited it to once in a week . i smoke max 2 cigs in a week
is this healthy ? i know tobacoo is not healthy but i have read that nicotine helps fight some diesaeses like as in "the patch"

what are ur views ?

You are right - tobacco especially smoking is not healthy - congrats for cutting down to 2 cigs/week. Nicotine as a drug is not used for much. The only thing I've heard where it had a good effect was with people who had ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease. Both are genetic inflamatory auto immune diseases of the colon and digestive tract.

The longer a person has been smoking and the more packs per day smoked, the greater the risk. If a person stops smoking before a cancer develops, the damaged lung tissue starts to gradually return to normal. Even after ten years, the ex-smoker's risk still does not equal the lower risk of a person who never smoked. However, an ex-smoker's risk is about half the risk of people who continue to smoke.
