I don't think a murderer even comprehends death....

If he did have a logical comprehension of death, he would know that his actions have a severe and dire consequence for all involved.

I think murderers have their own little version of death but instead of an end, they consider death to be just the beginning of something powerful inside of themselves.

Just look at Jeffrey Dahmer.
He loved his concept of death.

Basically, you are asking about the effectiveness of capital punishment and whether or not it is any type of deterrent...

Murder is an irrational act in which rational people are asked about capital punishment. It's like mixing apples and oranges.

Basically, capital punishment satisfies the need for revenge by society and the family/friends of the victim. That's a given. But, is it a deterrent?

And, the answer is, I don't know, nor will we ever know the real answer. People who commit murder may be analyzed for any abnormalities within their psyche or physical being. Whether or not the 'y' chromosome has a definite link as it thought to have had to people who are prone to violence/murder, is still being determined. Nothing really definite.

The deterrent we seek doesn't exist in the minds of the murderer, for the murderer has committed murder and what's a lie to anyone who has committed a capital crime? When you weigh one against the other, a murder is nothing, so how valid is anything from the word of a killer. Valueless...

A vast majority of the people never see the criminal courts as a perpetrator. More so as a victim filling out forms at the local precinct.

So, getting back to the question about murderers...I don't know about any deterrent regarding murder.

It may sound silly, or even foolish, but, I know about parking tickets, and are parking tickets a deterrent...yes!

Most do I think. We just had an case here in TN where an inmate was supposed to be executed last night and he's been saying that he doesn't want appeals and has no remorse for what he did (he killed his 4 kids to get back at his ex wife) and he has basically dared them to execute him saying they weren't really serous about it, etc. Then after being moved to Death Watch and within 12 hours to go, he changed his mind and said he wanted to continue appeals. I guess death was a little too close for comfort.

Not caught yet? Probably thinks his invincible.

On death row? I'm sure of it.

It's the unknown, most people would have a certain fear of it probably even those with an incurable disease.

Then again there are suicide bombers but that's a religious discussion.

Those I've met certainly do.

There may be some killers who enjoy watching other people die, but I don't know of any who enjoy their own death.

Yes and No. Some are already as good as dead when they decided to kill. Some are just an act of defence or desperate, etc depends on their state of mind.

I think they're enwrapped at the moment, maybe once they advance themselves beyond living in the present.
