well, it depends on what type of person she is herself. Is she the shy type or extroverted type?(notice this when shes among her friends)
Shy girls problem:
when it comes to a guy she likes .. she either becomes noticeably shy or .. aloof. And then again, its hard to tell whether the girl likes a guy When she's aloof. Its either she doesnt want to show tht she likes u. Or she wants u to stay away from her.
Or maybe shes just trying to keep a distance between the two of u.. becuz shes Analzying u (!?) on the type of person u r and whether u can become her potential BF! now this can turn out either bad or good lol.. I think if the guy falls on the latter, HE MusT remain to be HIMself at all times.. ! and I mean its for the best for the both of them and for he, himself.
An extrovert.. or the confident type wouldnt have this problem... they'd ask the guy out immediately.

I'm a very shy person by nature, and introspective and mature. When I was in front of a guy I liked, I either a) went deeper into my shell, or b) ended up looking like a blithering idiot.
Help her come out of her shell slowly and calmly. There's a pearl in there somewhere.

liking is a vague term.. some like unto death, others like, like, just for fun.. so you need to be more specific.. nonetheless I'd say that she may act anywhere from completely frozen to becoming bubbly and talkative even beyond her studious and mature character..

If she is not sure he likes her shes shy,If he has made it clear how he feels she is either embarassed or sending out the impression of being shy because she doesnt want to be with him.

it actual relies upon on the guy she is with. If the guy can gentle up any social gathering together with his humour, i'm particular each and every female would communicate with him unceasingly. yet while the guy is going too fromal, women get bored

she just doesnt want to embarrass herself probably in front of him so she keeps herself to herself for now!!
But some are themselves so they are loud
It all depends how confident they are
