I have had enough of arguing. Too many times you hurt the ones you love.

No i don't have to always win an argument however, when faced with someone totally obnoxious, i just say "I can see you feel very strongly about this topic. I too feel strongly about it but i'm not prepared to enter into a confrontation with you". Now!!! I check my facts and, when the person is totally obnoxious (Runs in the in-laws as it happens) I bide my time until i can show they were wrong, by backing up my evidence. I tell them "I know you feel strongly anout your views but if you allow me, here's what i found" And let them read it. OK you might think me a troublemaker and i'm not and proof is ... The in-laws revel in conflictual situations, i don't and after i've done this a few times with them ... They tend to avoid confronting me because they know that, should i think/know they were wrong ... I'll let them know! My life's become a lot sweeter all of a sudden!

Good question. For me anyway. I do love it when i'm right about something & get to prove someone wrong. I love to win!!!
But I do avoid confrontation for as long as I can. I'd much rather not fight or argue. But when pushed & pushed b/c they choose to be bull-headed, I have to defend myself after a certain point. I can take only so much!!!
I am definately not a troublemaker. I'd much rather live peacefully!!! And those that are troublemakers can stay away from me! Or get run off. I don't have time for someone who enjoys other people's misery.
I concider myself a very easy-going type of person. Passive maybe. I do take alot of crap before I finally end it. I just don't want
to appear mean or rude I guess. But hey...why care when someone's treating you that way right?

I don't. I'm a follower of the third path. I can see both sides to most arguments & I try to also see the true reality - the third path.
