Money, greed, control & power. I think that in some parts of the world, ie: Middle East, or wherever the practice of Islam is prevelant, and also in the early days of the Western World, religion would be a major factor.

But now a days, at least here in the US, it seems as if politicians mainly use religion, the same way they pick on certain other things like, gay marriage, abortion, family values, etc... in order to try to get at whatever they think is important to the vast majority of voters. I personally think that they for the most part could really care less about any of those things, they just want the votes.

War, now that is a big one. War means money, lots of it for a select few, same goes for power and control. It's got it all for the few who profit from it. It's usually not the citizens of countries that want war, but the heads of governments who want it. They sit in suits at desks, or in "undisclosed locations", plotting it all out, while the regular guys who sign up for the Military real young, are the ones who get to play it out, and not for much profit, either.

For instance, as long as there is war, there will always be rebuilding needing to be done after the bombs, etc... have dropped. So, Haliburton is one most all of us recognize. They get a "no bid" contract to rebuild Iraq, so as long as it keeps being destroyed, they are profiting. Same for like, Boeing, Raytheon, and other places that make war related stuff. So, war is definately a big one. Also, good to fight about between the so-called two parties - to help convince the people that there really are two parties and that if we vote, we actually have a choice.

I'm not quite sure about "Macro" and "Micro" levels of politics. But, since macro is big and micro is small, it probably is Federal versus Local....or State, something like that, but it's just a guess.

"Power" and "Authority". Power I believe is much more .....well, powerful. Those truly in power, can delegate out Authority to certain individuals or groups of individuals to oversee certain things. But those in authority must still answer to those in power.

You have 4 questions there

1)Politics is conflict-how vigorously the points are debated varies but its about differing opinions on ones persons view of fairness over another

2)I refer to the answer I gave some moments ago

3)Macro level generally means I don't want to get caught out by the detail or that my argument wont stand up so I will generalise
Micro level means I will try and baffle you with the detail so I don't have to answer the real question

4)Authority is when people give you a mandate to act on their behalf Power is when you abuse that mandate and and act in your own self interest stating the support of the people as justification.

Money and Power sharing at the highest level always bring conflicts in Micro & Macro levels!

Power is like elctricity - it some times gives severe shock and mostly fails often.

Authority is exactly like the Signature of the Vice Chancillor in the University Graduation Certificate.. Till he is there in the seat the signature is valid and on replacement another one signs...

The student who gets the certificate after a prescribed study and clears the exams, never writes the name of the Vice Chancillor in his Bio Data after his qualification and University!

But without the signature of the Vice Chancillor the Certificate is invalid!
