MOBO awards (Music Of Black Origin) is a "normal"& accepted event but I think it's wrong. A "Music Of White Origin" wouldn't ever be allowed because it screams racism & white supremacy does it not? If there were "MOWO" awards, there would be an uproar. And it's not just the type of music, some of the black artists songs don't fit into the R&B etc category & are not "black" in origin at all. What do you think?

Not really...somewhat Londoncentric and moronic - or is that USA-centric. I realise the name itself can get people sneering, but hey...there are plenty of music awards that is basically white (but damn...wise as they are, do not insert the word 'white' in their awards). Methinks most black folk far away from the noose (known to one and all as the M25) around London also have a fair reason to grumble...not from envy, but from realising it seems almost like an 'all pals together' meeting every year...most of them from North America...talking of which, what would the MOBO dears think of Jimi Hendrix?

The worst thing is when some idiot says "your racist" when you comment on the colour of something!

I dont think it is wrong to have MOBO (never heard of it till now). But maybe it would be better to call it something different to solve racial discrimination problems. But, then it would be just ignoring the feelings that people have towards race and racism, which i think is an even bigger problem.

Maybe, in a country with the majority of black people, then that country might have a "Music of White Origin"? Which could just be any music played by white people...doesn't matter what style.

So, i think that these awards are just for people who are celebrating themselves, no matter what race or colour. They dont wanna compete with other races, fine by me.

you are right about the reaction a MOWO would cause, there is always someone ready to play the racism card though. do you think a band playing african inspired music who all happen to be white would be accepted? after all its of black origin? racism towards white people is often over looked but to be honest i dont think caucasians (to be ultra PC) dont give a monkeys unless its really outrageous

As for Charlie60 - NO RACISM DOES NOT ONLY APPLY TO WHITE PEOPLE - !!! LOL

It exists in any RACE unfortunatley
and that stupid comment was perfect evidence of that!!

Anyway I would say not Racist in regards to the MOBO awards -but prejudice yes -just as I feel BET is prejudice -
My Fiance who is black feels the same way - Its just a means to separate everybody -but if White Companies didn't feel the need to have so many White influenced programs & events that exclude other races then maybe African Americans & others wouldn't feel the need to have to Identify their programs & events in ways that Scream prejudice - ITs just a secret means to get back at each other - its really all chidish if you think about it -
Just my thoughts

I think it's all bull. soul music, r&b and rap should not belong to one colour, as soon as these genres were introduced white people jumped aboard. It strange when people claim all good music comes from black people, there's no records to prove this. Granted some white people have no soul, but music is relative, I think it sould be Street Inspired Music Awards. Music was not invented in America by black slaves, but for some reason this seems to be the new gospel.

Especially as it seems to be largely white people who win the awards these days (ie. Eminem and Justin Timberlake).

Although there are MOWO awards - the Country and Western Music Awards!

Reverse-racism happens everywhere. A minority ethnic with fewer qualifications then other applicants can get the job above the others because an organisation doesn't want to appear racist. It's a crazy world we live in, but beautifully diverse. If foreigners decide to live in another country, should they have to live by that country's laws, or still abide by their own laws?... ooh, look out for that one... I'm posting it!

yep remember saying this years ago im not racist but totally feel this is a valid point ,i dont really care if this event is done or not its just the fact like u say if the boot was on the other foot there would be an outcry ,the fact that these awards were set up in this country says it all .

Youre right.
It is a good example of double standards.
People of different ethnic origins want to be treated the same as everyone else, then they segregate themselves in this way.
It should be one music awards ceremony for everyone.
