Absolutely. As a child living in the mountains, with no cable, I was forced to rely upon my imagination and creativity. I wrote essays and poems, and went on many walks. Now, with satellite, a laptop, etc, etc, I am constantly looking for an outer source of entertainment and am far less active.

Just check out those countries under international sanctions: they tend to find ways of getting around them in order to survive.
One country which did that is Rhodesia until corrupt leaders came and changed it to Zimbabwe and all the hard work was brought down to impoverishment.

Yes. Human always find and invent new things and technology when there is necessity or resources is scarce.
