its perfectly natural to feel this way you are a mom!!! your little girl is growing up!!! think of all the wonderful things shes getting ready to experience. my boys are now 20 and 23 but they will always be my babies in my heart!!!
now she'll come home and you two can share all the neat
things she did in preschool you will still have that special bond with her for many years to come!!!

It may be junior empty nest syndrome. But its sounds to me like you secretly fear for her safety. I'm assuming that you are a woman, as am I. Did you suffer any trauma at that age? Or did your parents divorce around that age? I was placed into foster care when I was 9 years old and my son just turned 9 a while back and I find that I'm worried about something similar happening although there is no basis for my fear. It feels like an "unlucky" age. I don't know. If you are a man, maybe you just want so much to protect her from everything and now she is going into a situation where you have less control than usual. Try not to push your fears onto your little angel. Her experience is different. Show her that you have confidence in her and that life can be an exciting adventure and you look forward to hearing about this new phase in her life. Its sort of a rite of passage, isn't it?

There are possible reasons:
1. She's the only daughter that you have.
2. You were the elder in your family of girls and it's your responsibility to take care you them.
3. You are totally aware that the daughter is about to join the big world which is getting more evil by the day. And leaving her in a territory where you have no control for 4.5 or more hours is unbearable to you.
It's a maternal instinct you're experiencing towards your daughters because you understand what she's going to face and I don't blame you. It's natural. A father experiences the same thing for his 1st born son.
Just be there for your daughter every seconds you have!!!
Hope this helps!!!

It's hard when your children grow up.
I have three children. My daughter is ten and I was excited for her on her first day of school. My son just started kindergarten this year and it was a lot harder this time.I think for me it's hard because I only have one more at home and he's next to go.
Then all my baby's are no longer baby's.They grow up way to fast.
If she is your only girl that also could be the reason.
You may feel more protective of her.I don't feel you favor her more then your boys if your worried that may be why you feeling
different.

because girls in most cases are attached to the moms and vice versa. i think that you have this great, strong bond with her yet in your eyes she will always be a baby even when she is 20. i am 22 an dmy parents still look at me from time to time and treat me like i am 16 but then they have to realize that i am 22. i guess that even being the middle or eldest kid makes it hard-in your eyes you do want your daughter to grow up-this soon- and are afraid that she is growing up too fast. just spend time with your daughter since in the blink of an eye she will be 16 and then will start college.the bond that you share with your daughter is unique since most girls are daddy's girls.

You feel like that because she's your baby girl. Guess it's natural (some kind of detachment anxiety) but if you let that feeling grow BIG, now that's really wrong.
You wouldn't want your daughter Not to discover what great mind, wits, and talents she has. :) Right?

Well it seems to me that you realy love your daughter. You are wrong in a way because you are shading her away from living life and I think that you feel this way because she is your first daughter and knowing how the world is brings on fear
